We are in the process of creating a performance that engages with parts of central London which audience members are likely to be familiar with. Our aim is to distort their impression of recognisable places by making them listen to stories from the homeless communities of these areas, combining historical and contemporary testimonies. We will work to achieve this through developing an outdoor site-specific performance in which the audience wear headphones. We believe the nature of the performance will be the most affecting means of making an audience reconsider locations that they already know. By uncovering the histories behind these spaces, we hope to emphasise the reality of homelessness’ ever-presence in London to our spectators.
